The Coventry and District Gundog Society promotes the breeding, exhibiting and working of gundog breeds in the area. Membership is open to anyone   interested in showing, working, breeding or owning gundogs - there is a membership fee.

The show section of the society hold two open shows per year (usually March and December) at the Sports Connexion, Ryton on Dunsmore.

During the summer the working section of the club hold a programme of gundog working tests for Retrieves, spaniels and HPR's.

During the shooting season (usually between October and January) two retriever (both Open and Novice), two spaniel field trials (both Open and Novice) and two novice HPR trials are held.

The society also runs gundog training classes for Retrivers, spaniels and HPR's in the evenings in Corley, from April to September(email kate@coventrygundog.org.uk for details). Our club is affiliated to the Kennel Club.

This year, C&DGS celebrate their Diamond Jubilee. The Society was formed soon after the war in 1946 with Limited Shows for members only, graduating to Open Shows and then in 2004, we were granted Premier Show status.

The Working Section emerged in the 1960'S when a few enthusiastic members decided they would like to train their dogs for the shooting field and the rest is history- so to speak!

We now have around 800 members who are active both on the showing and working side and thanks as always must go to the committees and ordinary members over the years who have helped the Society to grow into the success it is today.
